Our Story

Being authentic can be hard in the beauty community, but when you have an army behind you anything is possible.

Onyx + Ivory is owned by Chandra Marchuk who has lived in Estevan her entire life. She had dreams of being a hair stylist after high school but that quickly changed when she found out she was going to be a mom. Fast forward 13 years and she now has 2 beautiful daughters, Matt, her husband and a growing business.

Onyx + Ivory House of Beauty has two separate floors, it’s a place for guests to come relax, enjoy their time in a professional and modern environment. With Onyx being a full service luxe hair salon on the main floor and Ivory being a relaxing upscale space dedicated to aesthetics as well as the first bridal suite Estevan has to offer that can accommodate any size bridal party on the second floor.

You may notice a few details when you enter the space. Chandra spent many sleepless nights finding the perfect colours, accessories and details to bring smiles and comfort to their guests. A few of these details include the pink studded chair you’ll find upstairs. In 2021 Chandra and her sister-in law went to a local furniture store and found this pink chair and Chandra immediately fell in love with it. Her sister-in law told her, “One day when you have your own space that will be a great piece to have”. Of course she marched right down to the store and made that her first furniture purchase. Also the pink wall upstairs matches the chair perfectly!

The light bulbs in the downstairs bathroom are called lipstick bulbs which tie in with the makeup services provided.

The famous “bum” wallpaper in the bathrooms was an idea that came to Chandra because of the nature of work she does. She does a lot of airbrush tans and brazilian body sugaring. There are ladies that come in, a bit shy or self-concious, but as soon as they leave they tell her how comfortable they felt by the end. She wanted to showcase something a little more out there and different to give them a giggle and maybe ease their nerves.

The wallpaper at the backdoor entrance was made for a photo wall but if you notice it looks like a red carpet backdrop because she wanted all guests to feel like a million bucks while getting their after photos taken.

The sign above the hairdressers wash sinks was something she saw and absolutely fell in love with. The formula is something everyone should live by, especially the last line.

Chandra and Matt created her vision of a big city feel in our wholesome small town. She wants guests to have access to high end products you won’t find in every space but also the fan faves that you can’t live without.

The staff want to welcome you, so come by, have a coffee and get comfy because once you come… you won’t want to leave!
